The child is at the centre of our interests. The focus of our attention is on the child who is obliged to work or to prostitute himself or herself, the child who cannot be cured should he fall ill, but also a child who has no adult to look after him, a violated child, a child who is a victim of violence and exploitation and any other child who is not guaranteed his or her fundamental rights.
CIAI, the Italian Association for Aid to Children, is a no profit organization founded in 1968. Since then, CIAI has dedicated itself to promoting the acknowledgement of all children as human beings and to defend their basic rights to live, to be healthy, to have a family , an education, to play and to be innocent everywhere in the world.
Cooperation. Our aim is to prevent children from being abandoned. We build and fund new health facilities, first aid units, health clinics and schools; we sponsor centres for single mothers; we run centres for the care of street children , victims of violence, sexual abuse or prostitution; we sponsor microcredit activities to support women in difficulty.
With the Sponsorship Programme we guarantee children’s education, in order to fight illiteracy and to prevent the exploitation of child labour. The contributions of our sponsors are used to create educational programmes and offer vocational training. With approximately 9000 sponsors, we are currently providing stable financial support to the same number of families.
Intercountry Adoption: we find a mother and a father in Italy for those children, everywhere in the world, who have been abandoned and for whom there are no possibilities of being reunited with their original family or other solutions in their own country.
